Role Summary

We are looking for a technical lead who can oversee a portfolio of Products in our London Hub. A manager who can own the Tech capability, oversee the products in the various stages of their lifecycle and advise on direction while being able to troubleshoot when necessary. A leader who can inspire the technical team to craft and deliver engaging products and create value for the organisation. An entrepreneur who can help shape a new capability for one of the world’s biggest companies.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience and/or expertise across a breath of technologies in the domains of Software engineering (for example: Golang, GraphQL, NodeJS, React, Python…), cloud services (for example: Azure, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes…), enterprise software (for example: SSO, Security/compliance, monitoring…), and dev-ops (for example: CI/CD, terraform…).
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to be work across multiple mediums and engage with multiple teams and people at various levels. Capacity to work quickly learn and work with multiple technologies with both experts and non-technical people.
  • The ability to be highly independent, confident and flexible to adapt to a fluid landscape.
  • Strong focus on value and understanding of the roles of Product and Design in the delivery of a product. Pragmatism in regards to technology.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • You keep up-to-date with modern technologies and make sure you are on top of what is happening in the tech world.
  • You have experience with leading the delivery of enterprise software. You are familiar with the timeframes and how to balance quality and speed. You are also familiar with the landscape of IT departments within large corporations (Fortune 100s).
  • You have experience with Agile methodology, and know what can be some of its advantages and shortcomings when building products within the context of a larger company
  • You have experience as a technical lead, or head of engineering/technology. You know how to arbitrate issues between people and how to lead and inspire junior and senior engineers.
  • You know how to engage with senior stakeholders, you understand what type of language and engagement they would be expecting.

 

Role Responsibilities

 

At a product level

  • Coaching the tech leads and engineers in order to enable product delivery. Balance between providing guidance and autonomy to the various teams. Support the product teams in their delivery.
  • Ensure the products are on track with non-functional requirements, monitor standards across products and engage with Tech lead, Product Owner and Product Manager to make sure they are factored in as part of the roadmap.
  • Guide the technical roadmap through the various stages of a product’s lifecycle, evaluate and coordinate needs around resourcing.

At a capability level

  • Ownership of the direction of the Technology capability: technology, skills, disciplines, engineering principles, people and general ways of working.
  • Working with the other capability leads (Product and Design) to ensure a balanced approach to product development and delivery.
  • Working with the other Hub Tech Leads to ensure a consistent approach for the technology capability.

At strategic level

  • Working with the different functions of the hub (security, operations, support, common components…) for strategic decisions involving the capability.
  • Engaging with the company wider IT’s community to synchronise the ways of working between the Hub and the rest of the company.
