Role Description:

We are looking for a talented IT Business Analyst to join the IT delivery team in the Gas and Power Operations team. The team comprises of business analysts, developers and testers split between London and Bangalore delivering both custom built and vendor supplied applications to the trading business. The Business Analyst is primarily responsible for identifying and documenting business requirements and working with technical teams to determine feasible solution options.

The role is focused on the Gas & Power Operations activity, more focus on Power Operations. There is an expectation it will encompass the end-to-end solution delivery lifecycle from idea and inception to assisting the support team, once the solution is live, with expert knowledge.


The ideal candidate can work as part of a global team with a strong track record working with as part of an energy utility or gas & power trading business focusing on operations & trading activities. They will have knowledge of the Gas & Power trading live cycle from setting up counterparties in the operations system, message communication with counterparties/ETRM application.

They should have worked on various operations systems and good understanding UK & European Market. They will have recent experience of delivering IT solutions to large consumers of European Gas and Electricity and the supporting business processes that enable a business to serve customer needs. Knowledge of how the Gas and Power are bought from the wholesale market via a trading division would be an advantage.



Key Skills and Experience:


  • Knowledge of Business Analysis techniques and tools with significant experience in project deliverables including the ability to:
  • Precisely capture business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options.
  • Deep expertise on the application functionality, design, and implementation.
  • Working with IT partners and third-party suppliers to ensure that solutions meet business needs, including testing, defect management, and user education.




  • Knowledge of Trading (Preferable in Commodities)
  • Knowledge of ETRM System (Preferable in Aligne)
  • Experience working in Agile Project Delivery
  • Experience working in geographically distributed teams
