Background:

  • This Client is looking for a senior IT Business Analyst to join the IT delivery team in the Power Operations team. The team comprises of business analysts, developers and testers split between London and Bangalore delivering both custom built and vendor supplied applications to the trading business. The Senior Business Analyst is primarily responsible for leading the functional design, identifying and documenting business requirements and working with technical teams to determine feasible solution options. The role is focussed on the Power Operations activity and there is an expectation it will encompass the end-to-end solution delivery lifecycle from idea and inception to assisting the support team, once the solution is live, with expert knowledge.
  • The ideal candidate can work as part of a global team with a strong track record working with as part of a power trading business focussing on operations & trading activities. They will have knowledge of the Power trading live cycle from setting up counterparties in operations system, message communication with counterparties/ETRM application. They should have worked on various operations systems and good understanding UK & European Market. They will have recent experience of delivering IT solutions to large consumers of European Gas and Electricity and the supporting business processes that enables a business to serve customer needs. Alternatively or in addition they will have knowledge of how power is generated (green and non-green) and the obligations companies have to nominate and schedule that power. Knowledge of how Power is bought from the wholesale market via a trading division would be an advantage.

 

 

Skills and Experience required:

 

Essential:

  • Experience working with Power Operations (Scheduling, Nomination, Forecasting, Actualization)
  • Knowledge of Back Office Processes (Invoicing & Settlement)
  • Extensive knowledge of Power generation with a special focus on renewable power generation
  • Knowledge of Business Analysis techniques and tools with significant experience in project deliverables including the ability to:
  • Precisely capture business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements
  • Translate business requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options

 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Meter Data Management
  • Knowledge of B2B energy customers mainly Industrial & Commercial Customers who are large end-consumers of gas & electricity supply
  • Knowledge of gas & power trading preferably European Intra-day and Day Ahead Trading
  • Knowledge of ETRM System (Aligne or Endur)
  • Experience working in Agile project Delivery
  • Experience working in geographically distributed teams
